Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is used when the soft tissue inside a tooth becomes inflamed or infected. The aim is to remove the affected tissue, clean the internal spaces and preserve the natural tooth whenever that is clinically suitable.

Local anaesthesia is used to keep the procedure comfortable. After cleaning and shaping, the canals are sealed carefully. Depending on the tooth and its condition, treatment may be completed in one visit or planned across more than one appointment.

A treated tooth often needs a strong final restoration, especially when it carries heavy biting forces. Your dentist will explain whether a filling or crown is recommended and how to care for the tooth during recovery.
